CLYDE WILLIAMS, CHESTER GRIMM, AND CLIFFORD IARED The Industrial arts department found its own home for the first time in the fall of 1951 as the cabinet shop, printing, drafting and metal work were moved to their modern building. Additional electric arc welding was added to the curriculum. Expansion was soon necessary and the welding annex came to be in '56. Modern machines have been added to each shop, presenting a change from the exercise method of teaching to the modern construction. This new method places empha- sis on industrial production methods while maintaining a high standard of skills and craftsmanship in the cabinet and machine work. Drafting, stressing skill, speed and design in architectural and machine fields, is practiced by students in actual construc- tion. Two basic methods of printing with modern equipment, enable students to re- ceive practical experience in printing The Maverick and various activity programs. A Future program of growing with changing times, with additional up-to-date equipment and modern materials is being pursued. These ftmctions have been derived from a belief that individual capacity and social needs should be met with an edu- cational philosophy which holds the fullest development of all individuals in a de- mocratic society. .-'aa i ,,. 5 WX t CHESTER GRIMM Chairman l t Metal Work Printing f - I Drafting Wood Shop 15
