MASQUERS One of the most active organizations on campus is Northern's dramatic club, more widely known as the Masquers. Each semester the club's activities center around the presentation of a play for the pleasure of both the student body and the community. To make a play a success any Masquer can tell you it takes the com- bined efforts ot everyone working on the set, costumes, properties, lighting, sound, and many other committees. In the fall the club presented one night's entertainment in the form of three one-act plays, Curse You, Jack Dalton, The Devil and Daniel Webster, and Three Pills in a Bottle. The featured highlight of the second semester was the presentation of the Greek tragedy, Antigone, A special treat for the stu- dent body was the program written, produced, and acted by the members of Masquers. t An annual party in the spring plus the break down parties after the final curtain has closed add to the lighter side of the club's program. To revise an old adage, belonging to Masquers means, lt's pleasant work and a lot of play.

STUDENT CDUNCIL As the council is the voice oi the students in the government of the school, each class elects three members to the council for the year. The Council strives to promote better relations between the students and faculty, and works to improve the school as a whole. In their attempt to accomplish this, the council became a member of the National Student's Association. This membership was the result of a trip taken by some council members to Ann Arbor in December, 1951. ln December of the next year, the council took an active part in the N.S,A. convention at Detroit. Activities of the'year included a pre-Homecoming pep session which was a Kangaroo Court held for the freshmen as a conclusion of the freshman initia- tion program, sponsored by the council. Each year the council has a dinner at the close of the second semester for both the old and the new members.
