Z e I llilvl R The 1927 football season ended the career of Captain jerry Qlflemr, for four years fullback on Northcrn's teams. 'l'o those who have watched jerry perform, he was one of the most brilliant stars on the gridiron that has been turned out here in recent years. A feature of almost ev- ery game was his excellent punting, and his backing' up of the line was pretty to watch, lt has often been said that his kicking' ranked with that done in the larger uni- versities, while his defensive tactics were always due for commendation. X'Vhen the next season comes around Coach l-ledgcock will find a man to take his place, but it can well be said that that place will not be filled as well as it was by jerry Hemr. 1-,KN 'x RONIHERLI ln the first game of the season and in every tilt fol- lowing, oftentimes despite injuries, the man who showed the most grit of any player on the squad was Ronberg. In the Oshkosh game, his most brilliant of the season, he took a great amount of battering' and was injured to a point where another fellow would have quit, but he never gave up, no matter what the odds. His roving' center style of play made him stand out with his slashing' attack. He had the guts, and it is to be remembered in the Oshkosh game how he stood his ground, badly injured but never ready to give up. Oshkosh, 2,1 Northern, O. Page Ninety-six

XV.-XSSIZIQRCI The lleetest player on the squad, and whose speed was a feature in Northern's 323-7 victory over Michigan Tech, was XVassberg, otherwise known as XVassie . Playing his first season as a regular, Wfassie always showed a clean pair of heels to everyone. llis end run- ning aud cutbacks were an encouragement to his team- mates, and no game displayed his ahilities as did that with Michigan 'l'ech. .Xnother feature of that tilt was his running hack of the visitors' punts.
