E5 mg Menis Affirmative llntereollllegiate Team After nearly four months of earnest effort and preparation the three men selected to make up Northern Normal's affirmative team. left for Ypsilanti. Here they unsuccessfully debated the question: Resolved, That this house endorse the governmental principles of Mussolini. Professor liich, of the University of Michigan, in giving the decision to the negative, declared the con- test to be as close a one as he had ever been called upo11 to judge. Minden Maynard of Marquette, Kenneth Iirfft of Marquette, and Leo Gowden, of Florence, VVisconsin, composed the team. The debate took place on Friday night, April 22, in the Little Theatre on Yp- si1anti's campus, before an audience of twelve people, which included the judge and time-keepers, Coach Meyland, George Havican, and Al Mullaly of Mar- quette. After spending a half day in Ann Arbor and a day and a half in Detroit, the team returned home with a determination to do all within its power to see that the situation would be reversed next year. The team appreciated the send-oil that the student body gave them and the support expressed by the telegrams received while at Ypsilanti 5 likewise the rc- ception given them by the Tri Mu fraternity. The Northern forensic record has been a high one, both keeping bright the traditions of the school and providing a valuable training to participants. ,v, v, vw. .
