N DYKNOUSB, M TGCOMH, V Smits, H Eisenga, Mr F westmaas, Director, M Heuker, G Westmaas, K Brinks, S Koster when school begins in the fall, one of the many things to which we look forward is the day when the choir will start to hold its regular rehearsals But before we can start rehearsals, we must have me ntry out days when anyone who is interested in singing can go to Mr westmaas during the choir period to sing for him Then, soon after the 'try out days , a list pf names appears on the bulletin board, and on this list we find the names of the year's choir members and also the names of the choir aids. Some of the choir aids may become members if they show alertness, progress, and willingness to learn. Our choir now has M5 members. In the regular choir rehearsals, there is never a dull moment. The tenors love to flat, the sopranoa sharp, and so between us and the piano we really have a rough time. We also have the talent to forget about rhythm and time when we sing some of our syncopated numbers. After a session like this, Mr. westmaas always goes to a mirror to look for a gray hair and to smooth down his dark locks which he says we made stand on end. But under Mr. westmaas' capable and patient leadership and with the help of our pianist Phyllis De Ruiter we always come out 'on top . This spring we are planning several trips. One is to Petosky to take part in the district festival. Another is to the state festival which will be held in Mt. Pleasant. We have participated in these events for several years, and have always received excellant ratings. We also plan to go to Grand Rapids for the annual Christian High School Choir Festival which will be held in the Civic Auditorium and Calvin College. Cla rid tmad Arty Of w och, Toon' Tale oe Due to a snowstorm our Christma party was held on the afternoon of December 23 instead of the usual evening party Donald Aardema read us the Christmas story as found in Luke Mr westmaas led us in singing a few Christmas carols Our choir also rendered a few beautiful Christmas numbers We then had several instrumental and vocal numbers as well as skits presented by some of our talented classmates One of the highlights of the program was a humorous reading given by Miss Schaaf Last but not least Santa's helpers passed out the gifts for all hunch was served by the losing team of our Christmas card sales A grand time was had by all Presents Too, Courtin' Scene Sister Act P g Tv nty three
