'PxtKcifral The main purpose or goal of our educa- tional program at Northern Lebanon High School is to impart knowledge to you, our students. It is necessary for you to set practical and flexible goals for yourselves in order that you may become better prepared for the educational change that must come to our future society. Guidance by your teachers will help you to evaluate this change. We cannot afford to become a culturally de- prived group of people. Opportunities are presenting themselves to you every day, take advantage of them. You are building a foundation in know- ledge that will be your strength for the accomplishments which will come to- morrow. The subject matter in the course of study in any educational program must be so fundamentally interesting that you, the students, must understand and challenge the theories advanced by the teachers. You must learn to think for yourselves. To you the members of the class of 1965 you can become leaders if you are thinkers. Wishing the best to you! Harvey L. Nitrauer

As Americans we possess the highest standard of living in the world. With six per cent of the world's population we pro- duce more than ninety per cent of the world's wealth. We enjoy the freedom that millions of people cannot even hope some day to enjoy. Truly, we are the most fortunate people on the face of the earth. Our good fortune did not just happen. Our forefathers with foresight, with wisdom, with understanding, with a love for freedom, and with the courage to fight for the right were the architects of our great nation. You must recognize that our society and our government are not perfect. As graduates of the Class of 1965, will you take your place in the ranks of those who seek diligently to eliminate the imper- fections in our society? Will you strive to aid in the improvement of our democratic processes? Or, will you complacently re- linquish your obligations as a citizen of this great nation to others, perhaps to those sinister individuals who subtly seek the downfall of our way of life. Constantly strive for self-improve- ments, accept the responsibilities of citizenship and contribute toward the better- ment of all mankind. Cherish freedom. It is not just precious; it is priceless. Without it life is meaningless, for that which is meaningful fades into oblivion when a man becomes a slave. May you utilize all your faculties to achieve success and to enrich your country. May I extend to e a c h of you my very best wishes. Clarence M. Krammes
