Whether you accept employment in a factory or an office you will continue to learn. Those of you who enter college or some other school for specia- lized training will follow a more organized schedule for learning. Whatever type of work you engage in, prob- lems arise that require a solution. Each should be ana- lyzed, compared, and evaluated. This process stimulates your thinking, creates new ideas, and adds to the sum total of your education. Welcome difficult tasks rather than only the easy ones and your education will continue regardless of your age. May each of you have the desire, the will power, and the courage to solve all your problems as you meet them. Accept my congratulations and best wishes. Mr. Henry Wenger Pwwcpal TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CLASS OF 1956: The time is almost here when you will don caps and gowns, and with a pleasant thrill of excitement and pardonable feeling of pride, march in the Commencement Procession and receive diplomas attesting your graduation from Northern Lebanon High School. It will have cost the taxpayers of the state and, more particularly, of the local school districts in which you re- side, approximately one hundred thousand dollars to bring you to this important moment. Are your communities justified in this huge annual expense? The answer to this question lies in the future and with you. If you can show the world that you are better men and women because you have received a high school education, no one will ever begrudge a cent of the money spent. The increased generosity with which the public sup- ports the schools would seem to indicate that graduating classes in the past have proved their worth. They have not disappointed the hopes of their parents and friends. And when I read over the roll of this class, stopping for a thoughtful moment at each name, I am convinced that the members of this class, too, will bring honor to the school and credit to themselves. If the other high schools of our country do as well, the future of America is secure. john R. Roberts i 744009 FLORENCE BLACK Latin and Hirtory Wilson College A. B. Opp. 2 Elco 1 0 S. Lebanon 1 2 Myerstown 0 4 Annville 0 1 Myerstown 1 Wwzutq 533m F5 The basketball team had a bit of trouble breaking into the winner's column dur- ing their third season of Lebanon County League play. Mr. jandrositz did a fine job of coaching, and the boys spent a great deal of time practicing but lacked the exper- ience necessary to become winners. Although they did not have a winning season, they proved that basketball is improving and becoming more popular at N. L. H. S. gmletdad Judea The girls' basketball team did very well this year, winning seven of its ten games. The season started victoriously as the lassies downed Myerstown, the de- fending champions, 30 to 25. A loss followed when the girls journeyed to the Cornwall floor. On the home court the girls again got into the winner's col- umn with a smashing victory over South Lebanon. Elco handed the girls their second defeatg but they came back to win the last game of the first half, 27 to 22, over Annville. The second half was victorious with the excep- tion of one defeat at Myerstown. The victories were over Cornwall, South Lebanon, Elco and Annville. High scorer in the forward line-up was Carol Ogurcak, who scored 175 points in ten games, The team, coached by Miss Marilyn Ott, had a successful year and finished the season in second place. z.W4udg? The Junior Varsity team, also coached by Mr. Jandrositz, was composed of ten players. These fellows were very enthusiastic and were willing to work hard. They provided plenty of competition for the varsity during scrimmages and had fairly close scores in all of their games. We hope these boys will improve the status of Northern Lebanon in the County League in the next few years. -.. my awww: The junior High Basketball Team participated in the County junior High League for the 2nd year. The twelve boys on the squad, under the guidance of Mr. Schwang, showed plenty of fight and enthusiasm throughout the season. aubfz Jean Bashore, Nancy Hoke, Colleen Sholly, Joyce Wenger, Rita Bashore Sandra English, Frances Swope.
