Senior Play Cast-The cast of the senior play is pictured above. They are: Back row, left to right, Edith Jaslow, Marilou MacArthur, Bob Johnson, Jack Graves, Charles Faulkenstine, Shirley Culiner, THE CLASS PLAY You certainly would have enjoyed the Senior Play this year. Mrs. Anita Crust directed The Imaginary Invalid by Moliere. The story con- cerned the self-appointed invalid who was be- ing cheated of his money by doctors who poured all sorts of unnecessary medicines down him. Argan tried to marry oft his daughter, An- gelique to an educated physician, Thomas Dia- foirus, so that there would be a doctor in the family. Angelique loved a handsome young man named Cleante, however, so a complicated love affair started. The antics of Toinette, the maid, and the comic situations that arose over the doctor's greediness for Argan's money added further to the enjoyment of the play. All ended well, however, and the audience just howled all the way through it. The cast really put its heart into producing the comedy, and the efforts were wel1-re- warded. Large crowds attended on both March 4 and 5. Gee, we never knew there was so much talent in school. Some of the students with whom you went to classes were in it. Remember Al DeVito and his dramatizing? He had the leading male role of Argan. Bob Draper as Cleante, Dale and Agnes Burgett. Front row, Betty Lou Pittsley, Albert DeVito, ,Ioan Van Tassel, Evelyn Loder, Bob Draper and Paula Hartman. Blackmer as Monsieur Purgon, Stan Kuick as Monsieur Diafoirus, Bob Iohnson as Thomas Diafoirus, Charles Kulkenstein as Beralde and jack Graves as Bometoi really helped the play go over big. The boys had roles on both nights CManpower shortage, you knowl but the girls alternated. Marilou MacArthur and Shirley Cu- liner were cast as Toinette, Paula Hartman and Evelyn Loder played Angelique, Ioan Van Tas- sel and Betty Lou Pittsley alternated as Beline, Edith Iaslow and Agnes Burgett portrayed Louison, and Beverly Winter and Barbara Black were double-cast as Madame Fleurant. No play could be a success without the help of people behind the scenes. Other senior drama students donated their time but received little credit. Martha Lee as stage manager, Su- sanne Rumbold as business manager, Helen Wait as publicity manager, Martha Ann Davis as costume manager, Ioan Plew as makeup manager, Coyla Dodge as house manager, Bill Weber and Melba Haney as property manager, and Beverly Watson and Marion Davis as stu- dent directors all deserve a hearty vote of thanks. 28 THE. Special honors-The picture on the left shows Virginia Simpson, the D. A. R. representative. Bill Churchill is seen in the middle TOPS VVITH CLASSMATES The girls all got together last fall and elected Virginia Simpson as their DAR. Representa- tive from Northern. You recall Virginia, she's that cute little redhead enrolled on a C.C.l. course. Virginia has taken part in all school activities and has been an active participant in school clubs. Being secretary of the Sigma Chi Lambda was only one of her achievements. Her friendliness of spirit and Willingness to as- sist have Won her many friends, and the stu- dent body is certainly going to miss her after she graduates. Senior play scenes-Here are a few scenes from practice sessions of the senior play. ln the first picture, Chuck Falkenstine and Mari- lou MacArthur are trying to comfort Evelyn Loder, who is feeling depressed. ln the second picture, Dale lilackmer listens to Al De- i picture and that boy with the cake is Dave Margolis. The photogl rapher caught them in a few informal poses. Dave Margolis, as Student Council President, and Bill Churchill, as Senior President, attended the Iunior Rotarian meetings. These boys also have been extremely well liked by their class- mates. You surely remember these two fellows -their sincerity at work has earned them great respect from the entire student body. Their good humor and continued wise cracks will be long remembered too. Virginia, Bill, and Dave have been true Vik- ings. Three cheers for three of the swellest stu- dents in Northern High School.
