Our float won hrst prsze sn tlve Halloween parades Connse Trostle was chosen by the football players as Football Queen She was escorted by Ronald Kearns and attended by Barbara Splangler and Eleanor Splangler The sensor Problems of Democracy class went on a field trsp to Phsladelphsa on December ll We left brsght and early tor the trasn statson We made a hsstorscal tour ot the csty and sn the after noon went to see Csnerama We made a tour of the Evensng Bulletsn Busldsng and saw the pro ductson of a newspaper We hen had an oppor the world s largest and most beautstully decorated stores sn the world John Wanamaker s Homeward bound everyone seemed to agree that st was lust great We sensors had the prsvslege of gettsng and trsmmsng the Chrxstmas tree sn the lobby The sensor hsgh choruses and drama classes presented the Chrsstmas program We had many prosects to make money for our sensor trsp to New York Csty Some of them were sellsng candy sellsng statsonery and helpsng to produce the school play sn whsch many sensors partscspated We had two skatsng partses thss year Money and fun was our goal Thss year ss drawsng to a close The prom presented to us by the sunsors was delsghtful To end our year we wsll spend three days sn New York Csty 4 Football Queen and Attendants . . Now as iuniors, we felt a bit more important. We knew lust about which way to go-forward of course. Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Steele, and Mr. l-loopes were our homeroom teachers. Our float for Farmer's Day, Canadian Sunset, was complete with dogs and dog sled We felt trium phant when we won first in Dillsburg and many prizes in the vicinity Again we sold the Booster Tickets and again our stand was quite profitable We needed extra funds this year for our big night our prom So we held two skating parties one at Haars and another at the Rainbow They both served their purpose entertainment fun and money We still needed more money to finance this night of merriment A bake sale was our solution which was held in Dillsburg This year many of our boys played lunior varsity football The school play Henrietta VIII w ll long b remembered Many of our classmates participated in it It proved a great success both financially and experience wise Our big year was coming soon Jim Richwine was elected president of the Student Council for our senior year Arlene Coulson was elected president of our senior class with Gerald l-larbold as vice president Bev Grove as secretary, and Bill Eurich as treasurer. Bill Eurich and Judy Nesbit were chosen to edit our yearbook, Carol Smith was named editor of the Purple 81 White. Our biggest year finally started. Excitement filled the air Mr Marsteller and Mr lvlusser were our home room teachers for this year Our hrst big venture was Farmers Day We entered a float in the parade called Butterfly Frolic We believe that this was the most beautiful float ever to be entered in any of the Farmer s Day parades Our color scheme for it was yellow brown and orange We were absolutely speechless when we learned that we had won tlrst prize at every one of the tive parades which we had entered our float Plus our unique float we made a large sum from our stand in front of the post office We made a total of 539661 from our Farmers Day ventures We were very thrilled to have one of our classmates chosen as Farmers Fair Queen Bev Grove was the lucky girl We hadnt recovered from the excitement of Farmers Day until we started our senior play The senior play Chicken Every Sunday was a great success Again we had a first We were the first class to have a student matinee which everyone seemed to enioy Canadian Sunset Editors Henrietta Vlll . , ,, . ,, . . . . . . , , 1 . . , . - f - I . .
