TO THE CLASS OF 1957 As another year is about to close and summer vacation is about to begin, our thoughts revert to the days spent at Northern during the past year. The seniors will remember 1957 as the year during which they received their coveted diplomas. The juniors will recall the week prior to the prom. The seventh grad- ers will remember their first days spent in their new environment. School days are the best days you will ever have and they are exactly what you make them. Taking advantage of opportunities, making good use of time, and learning to meet and accept situations with a mature attitude will help bring pleasant memories of school days. Even unpleasant events, if met in a proper spirit, can become tinged in time with humor or satisfaction. Memories don't iust happen, they are built. We hope you have built the kind of memories of your school days that you want. M. Luther Scott Supervising Principal M. LUTHER SCOTT CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CLASS OF 1957! You have reached the first rung on the ladder of success. May your climb to the top be swift and sure. During the years you were here at Northern High School, you had an opportunity to grow mentally, morally, and spiritually. How much your stature has increased in these categories is reflected directly by the amount of time and effort you exerted. The fact that you have been graduated is evidence that you have met the basic requirements How much you will continue to grow is entirely dependent upon you. As citizens in a democratic society and as members of a changing and complex world, you will be faced with many opportunities and challenges. May your choices, de- cisions, and actions be the ones that will give the most satisfaction to you. For each of you l wish a happy future and success in your chosen field. Sincerely, Dale W. Smith 26 DALE W. SMITH
