Many English derivatives from Latin and French are in our reading vocabulary. When listening to a speaker, the better our vocabulary, the more quickly we grasp his meaning. In this age when all countries can be reached so quickly the clearer understanding that we have of the life and language of other nations the better is our relationship with them. Thus in diverse ways a foreign lan- guage opens to us a better and more en- ioyable way of living. The basic idea of track and field-to build one's body and reflexes-was first incorporated in the earliest Olympic games of ancient Greece . The 1957 track team, according to Coach Badar, may prove to be one of the finest ever at Northern. There are many returning lettermen from last year's runner-up Class A Championship team. One good thing Coach Fred Crawford can look forward to next season is that all the swimmers will be returning with the exception of Ron Fitch and Jim Adams.
