MatltematicA. Mathematics, which is one of the required college preparatory courses, is headed by Miss Walz. Geometry is the study and measuring of solids, surfaces, lines and angles. It enables the students to have a better concept of think- ing and reasoning. In algebra, the students learn to use letters in place of numbers involving all fundamental operations plus extract- ing roots and raising to higher powers. Trigonometry deals with the solution of triangles while solid geometry furthers the study of lines, planes and three dimensional figures. I he fundamentals of mathematics arc taught in basic math. Personal math provides the students with math they may use in everyday living. Geometry students Donna Simons. Inland Cory and Pat Olsen concentrate on the home-made sextant that Miss Tripp is demonstrating. Miss Walz explains the principles of the income tax return to Valloree Cohcen in personal math. Mr. Smith keeps a watchful eye on his advanced algebra students while they ponder over their tests.
