McVey Head Coach Coach’s Comments This year’s volleyball season record was a disap- pointing 5-15. The season itself, however, was not as dismal as the record would indicate. On a team composed of almost half freshmen, the learning and growth experienced during the season was dramatic. You expect to play young, inexperienced players on a junior varsity squad, but many times we played two or three freshmen on varsity, while our opponents fielded a team with four, five, or even six seniors! The inexperience showed but the great talent of our underclassmen helped keep us close in many matches we were expected to lose badly. It is difficult to keep spirits up when your team is not experiencing a successful season, but the upper classmen really helped to keep the team going. Special credit goes to Lizzy Schlesener, a Senior and the Varsity captain, and also Cindy Houck, a Junior and the Junior-Varsity captain, for keeping things running smoothly. We will miss the contributions of our three Sen- iors: Lizzy Schlesener, Janet Robinson, and JoAnn Robbins. But with all of the experience gained this year, things look bright for the coming years for Northern Heights Volleyball!! 30 Seniors: JoAnn Robbins, Lizzy Schlesener, Janet Robinson.
