We’d like to tell it like it is with the poor, overworked, and under- paid annual staff of Wildcat Tales. It sure is hectic just before deadlines because everyone rushes to get everything done on time, and sometimes we just don’t quite make it. Our world of dummy sheets, gutters and bleeding pages is as nerve-wracking as last minute cramming for a big test. As Donna and Dianne are struggling with copy blocks for Activities and School Life, James is trying to find a picture that will fit one of his pages of sports. Meanwhile, Norma and Chuck are busy clicking their cameras, and assistant editor, Rael is fighting with paper and ink for the annual cover. While all this is going on, Jacque is calmly making up our ad pages and Corky is trying to fit all the classes into their proper places. This busy activity is supervised by our editor and leader, Bruce. But of course without Mrs. Peterson nothing would get done. Wildcats Win Battles But Lose The War Twenty-five boys reported to the new coaching staff of head coach Bob Masters and assistant coach Jim Pykiet. The first week of the 1969 season was a week of conditioning without pads. The team then went into pads to start the rigorous training for the first game with Eskridge. Their sacrifices re- warded them with a hard fought 12-6 win over the Dragons. The Wildcats then proceeded to drop the next four games to White City, Luckey of Manhattan, Roosevelt, and Madison. Heights bounced back for a Homecoming victory and their first league win against Olpe. The Wildcats then traveled to Rossville and were beaten by the Bulldogs 30-6. Heights fin- ished the season on a winning note by beating Lebo, cham- pions of the tough Tri-Lakes League, 26-6.
