They started raising money for the Prom by a highly successful card sale and the Junior Play, “The Night of January 16th.” The week before Christmas the juniors crowded around the office to receive their class rings. At the end of their first semester Donita Golliher transferred to Emporia High. As the year drew to a close, the Juniors were anxiously looking forward to their senior year. Polaris Style Show ■ The Polaris Style Show was held in the Northern Heights auditorium on February I, 1968. Those participa- ting were Verona McCabe, LaVaughn Fehr, Susan Sim- mons, Beckey Buchman, Becky Wilkins, Terry Mailein, Julie Katzer, Sherry Venning, and Janice Leeburg. The judge for the style show was Mrs. Darrel Jones from Em- poria. The girls and women faculty members at Northern Heights, the Polaris Club members, and the mothers of the participants were guests at a tea following the style show. The tea, held in the library, was organized by Mrs. Burri and the Home Living class. Following refreshments the win- ners of the style show were announced. They were: La- Vaughn Fehr, 1st place; Pat Davidson, 2nd place; Verona McCabe, 3rd place. 61 Queen Rita Douglas Pat Davidson Candy Holloivay February 9, 1968 marked a memorable event for Miss Rita Douglas, who was crowned 1968 Queen of Courts. Rita, a senior, was attended by Miss Pat Davidson, also a senior, and Miss Candy Holloway, a junior. They were es- corted by senior team members Terry Schiesser, Ralph Lar- kin, and Bob Bowden, respectively. Queen Rita was crowned by Miss Susan Simmons, 1967 Queen of Courts at the half of the Varsity game between N.ll. and Americus, and was presented a spray of red roses by her escort. Before During The following evening the Queen and her attendants were honored by a ball held in the auditorium.
