Senior Class Prophecy • ► Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Stinson of Elm Crrek invited the class of 1958 of the Northern Heights Rural High School for a reunion during coon hunting season of 1968. Mrs. Stinson, the former Rosalie Note- man, and her four sets of twins had prepared a luscious dinner of baked coon, sweet potatoes, and all the trimmings. A space ship landed from a trip to Saturn, and the occupants were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Stinson, eight children, and twenty-four coonhounds. The pilot, Flora Lee Hilbish, stepped out along with her husband, the co-pilot, Jimmy Gray. The next one to descend was Duane Boline, the great rocket scientist, who had designed the rocket shipthat had just landed. Scientist Boline is still an eligible bachelor. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Baldomino descended the ramp next, and were just returning from their honey- moon. Mrs. Baldomino is the former Betty Parks. Greetings were no sooner over than John Rex Burns drove up in his super-charged '36 Chevy. Mr. Burns is a manufacturer of hot-rods. Ronald Davidson and Dennis Jones, John's chief mechanics, arrived with him. Olin Hilbish and Donna Smulling, a husband- wife ballet team, rolled in on a bicycle built for two with Donna at the pedals. When the group went into the Stinson mansion, they were surprised to see their old school-mate, Richard Passow, and his fourth wife, the former Betty Dickson, Dick was passing out cigars from his million dollar tobacco plantation in celebration of the first anniversary of his fourth marriage. Soon a block-long Cadillac drove into the yard, and who should get out but Dicky Tucker, Ralph Peterson, Clyde Shellenberger, and Marvin Boline. They had formed a world famous Barber Shop Quartet. They soon entertained the group with a song which had the lyrics composed by Art Shellen- berger and was set tomusicby Ronald Hayes. These two arrived at the reunion in a helicopter piloted by Esther Craig. The last to arrive were Ken Giger, Jim Hensley, Terry Putnam, and Jeannette Robinson. Terry Put- nam is now marriage counselor and divorce lawyer in Las Vegas, and is working on a big divorce case, but took time out to come to the reunion. Ken Giger operates a casino in Las Vegas, and Jim helps his wife, the former Faye Bechtel, operate the telephone exchange in Las Vegas. Jeanette Robinson is Ken's secretary, and an old maid. She raises cats in her spare time, and brought some of her prize kittens along with her. Miss Swarner, who is now a retired mathematics teacher, has not lost her ability to have a good joke, came roaring in on her motor scooter. Mr. Brooker, who is head coach at Kansas State, and thinner by one hundred pounds, came driving up in a Crosley. They were both made welcome by the Senior Class. The Stinsons served a bountiful feast to their guests, and old times in the Northern Heights High School were reviewed. The class of '58 decided to meet again in 1978 on the moon. Everyone will doubtless own their own Sputnik by then. Goodbyes were then said with everyone looking forward to the next reunion. 13
