1968 Class History After three years in Jr. High School, we finally advanced to Senior High. We met early in our sophomore year and chose the following class officers: Pres. -- Bonnie Buckel; Vice-Pres.--Alice Vitez; Sec. --Linda Frantz; Treas. --Bill Umbel. During the year we sponsored our dance, Isle of Golden Dreams , and Linda Frantz was chosen queen. On our Biology Field Trip, we traveled to Herrington Manor. Glenda Folk was chosen as a majorette and Debbie Pugh as a varsity cheerleader. Then came our Junior year. The officers for the year were: Lynn Sutherland--Pres. ; Wilber Lowdermilk--Vice-Pres. ; Donna Coddington--Sec.; Debbie Pugh--Treas. ; Louise Fike--Hist. The highlights of the year were rings, the prom, Paris By Night , and a most successful magazine campaign. Now our great Senior Year, '67-'68. Class officers: Pres. --John Leonard; Vice-Pres. -- Bill Mosser; Sec. --Linda Frantz; Treas. --Ken Jenkins. Dana Umbel made Tri-Valley first team. Louise Fike reigned as Homecoming Queen. Paul Maust, Neil Giconi, and Philip Miller attended All-State Chorus in Baltimore. Debbie Pugh was chosen as head cheer- leader and Glenda Folk as head majorette. On November 9, 33 excited seniors headed for New York. For those who went, it's a memory to be treasured always. Other memorable events were the class party, class picnic, senior dinner, senior tea, sermon night . and most of all GRADUATION. Our class was represented in various places throughout the country: Steve Vincent was honored at Cumberland for his achievements in chemistry. Lynn Sutherland attended the Science Symposium in Baltimore. Bonnie Buckel traveled to Chicago as a representative for the Yough Power Program. John Leonard received an Eagle Scout Award and attended an Honors Banquet in Johnstown. Patty Michael won first place in the talent show and went on to Turkeyfoot to win first place and $25. Karen Bowman placed first in the state Safety Poster Contest and second in the National contest. Our days here have been memorable ones and now we bid dear old Norther farewell! MARSHALL BITTINGER wills Mrs. Yunker a door prop so she won't have to get up and keep closing and opening the door. PAUL BITTINGER wills his ability to use a fire extinguisher to Lindsey Renner. PENNY BITTINGER wills her position at Northern and her great ability to sneeze to her sister Shelby. KAREN BOWMAN wills her ability to hook a boy in the seventh grade and keep him until the twelfth to her sister Kim. BARBARA BOWSER wills her ability to get along with most teachers to underclassmen, KAREN BRABSON wills Mrs. Smith new helpers on NYC in the future. ROBERT BRODE wills a cold bucket of water to Mr. England. BONNIE BUCKEL wills her ability to discuss school problems with Mrs. Pavone to George Layman. DAVID BUTLER wills his knowledge to skip school and to get in trouble with fire crackers to Donald Mosser. LEONA BUTLER wills to the teachers of Northern High School the class of 1970. LEROY BUTLER wills a pair of tires to Wayne Ellis. MARY BUTLER wills her nerve pills to Mrs. Sines. VERNA BUTLER wills her desk in drafting to Miss Miller. She'll need the extra space next year. RICHARD CARLSON wills a 427 Hemi-underglass to Bob Hetrick and Gary Savage. MARY CATON wills a year's supply of classroom absentees to Mr. Humberson so he won't run out. DONNA CODDINGTON wills to anyone the ability to work longer as a waitress than she ever did. JACK CODDINGTON wills his new invention to provide more leg room in a Volkswagen to Miss McClellan. JANET CODDINGTON wills her ability to skip as many classes as she has to Debbie Frazee. ELIZA COSNER wills a better U.S. History class next year to Mrs. Yunker. HARRY CUPPLO ROGER CUTLER wills his place in the senior class to any junior who can handle it. ANGELA DEWITT wills her ability to talk her way out of most anything to Ruth DeWitt. SANDY DEWITT wills to the eleventh grade stenographic girls her shorthand book in hopes that they use it more than she has. RONALD DOLAN wills his broken down '48 Studebaker to Guy, Allen and Gary.
