Wood Sigma Delta Epsilon, now known as the Sigma Society, was founded in 1925 by Dean Turner F. Garner as the honor society of the College of Business Administration. The purpose of the Sigma Society is to promote acquaintanceship and good fellowship among the best intellects, strongest characters, and most distinct personalities in the college; to stimulate higher attainment in the student body, through the bearing, influence, and work of Sigma members; and to mould a high ethical code for the college as a whole, in preparation for work in the bus- iness world. As an incentive to scholastic attainment the society grants a scholarship each year to the highest ranking business administra- tion student in the Freshman Class.
