Classes, tests, study groups, meetings, jobs, exams, late night library dates, and sometimes, all nighters were the agenda of the day-despite exter- nal forces. a..,,,n ,qgh -.J READING QUICKLY BECOMES an in- tegral part of every college student's life. W!!-' f NORMALLY A BUSY spot, lifeguard Trish McGinn enjoys a visit with Mark Sheffler during a quiet time at the Fit- ness Center l. OOOOOOO ROOM ONLY Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night, shall stay these carriers from the swift completion of their appoint- ed rounds. Most people think of the postman when they hear this. But the fact of the matter is the NSU student lived those credentials and lived by them through the worst weather of the year. First, torrential rains poured onto the area drowning everything and everyone who happened to be under it. Giant moats formed around the univer- sity and only the truly dedicated, outfitted in hip boots, waded to class. Cars floated away and even local busi- nesses lost buildings to nature's onslaught. Students on the way to class found them- selves wondering why the sidewalks held more water than the surrounding ground. And then there was snow. Not much but enough to make life miserable for every- one. Of course it's common knowledge that snow melts, but what is always forgot- ten is when the temperature drops, that melted snow will transform the roads to sheets of ice. A definite hazard in the hilly area surrounding the university. Even though the weather was horren- dous, that wasn't what cancelled school for one day. It was a gas failure. Can you believe it?
