ORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A M COLLEGE MIAMI, OKLAHOMA College Life At A Glance.... A MESSAGE FROM ail THE PRESIDENT .... Dr. Bruce G. Carter Northeastern @klahoma A. M. College BRUCE G. CARTER, PRESIDENT Miami, Oklahoma Northeastern A M at Miami, like most of the other good colleges across the nation, is growing and developing quite rapidly. Forty- seven years ago, in 1919, the state legislature of Oklahoma created and made provisions for the establishment of a two year college at Miami. The college has grown and developed little by little until nearly two thousand students are enrolled at the present time. Nine new buildings are currently under construction or will be under construction by the time this publication goes to press. These new buildings will allow for some of the finest housing in America, and they will also provide excellent classrooms, laboratories, and study outlets for many students. Northeastern A M has one of the best all-around academic programs that can be found any place in mid-America and also has one of the best extracurricular programs for students that is available in any junior college. Of course, students are going to college during this day and age! Northeastern A M would like for the student to give serious consider- ation to this college as his college home. The college is small enough to give the student personal attention and to know him, yet large enough to have a wide variety of curricular offerings. Northeastern A M welcomes the student. Sincerely, oY, Bruce G. Carter President ii 4 | ' ‘} }) ml a vy th N: 1 i 1 ‘i i } es a i} rf PROGRESS 1 1 i ut A uM x 8 A Wy r ty i} ry i Hy Dr. Bruce Carter and stu- dents stand infront ofthe spacious Vocational- Technical Building which : sce has just been completed. The two story building is located on the north- east corner of the campus. Botany students use microscopes to study fine detail of plant life. The science de- partment offers a variety of studies in both botany and zoology. Earth science is one of the rapidly growing fields offered by the science department. Education majors use the course for a physical science requirement. CUNNINGHAM HALL Agriculture students are of- fered the opportunity to be- come members of the nation- ally recognized judging teams trained by the agri- culture department. Stu- dents choose from a variety of agriculture majors. One of the most complete- ly equipped departments on the campus is the electronics department. The chemistry department provides an excellent back- ground and gives thestudent laboratory time to apply the theory discussed during lec- tures. VANN HALL One of the newest student housing units on the campus is Vann Hall. This modern and beautiful building is the home of 200 women students during the school term. Opened in the fall of 1965, the dormitory is an attraction quickly noticed by guests and students on the campus. The unit was named in honor of Miss Faye Vann, an instructor who devoted forty-one years of her life to Northeastern A M. Vann Hall is completely air-conditioned and equipped with the most modern con- veniences. Each floor has a lounge in which students may relax or study. The basement affords a game room. Each room is filled with modern furniture. Vann Hall isa pleasant building in which to live, with its clean and ultra-modern atmosphere. The hostess is Gladys Purvis. Shipley Hall houses the English, Speech, Drama, Mathe- matics, Drafting, Journalism, and Social Studies depart- ments. The library and administrative offices are also located in the building. After completion of the Vocational- Technical Building and Library-Administration Building, it will house only English, math, journalism, and social studies. aA mith Y War tyto= (e Be packed Mathematics plays an important role in the student’s cur- riculum since this is a scientific age. Northeastern’s math department is recognized as one of the leading depart- ments for preparing the student adequately. Drafting is an essential part of the engineering and vocational-techni- cal fields. Students receive profes- sional training and supervision in this area. TECHNICAL | COMMSE Se...
