Bateman. 1 w ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION The association is comprised of homeroom chairmen, senior cheer- leaders, athletic coaches, a financial adviser, and faculty adviser. Officers of the association are elected from the student body during a general assembly at the beginning of the year, To help support the athletic programs, the association manages the sale of candy at noon time, during school and at home games. They also sell school sweat shirts and arrange for transportation to away games, and sell basketball programs at the home games. The officers of the association are the following-VVayne Myers, president, Edward Beck, vice-president, Richard Crone, secretary, Bobby Mohr, treasurer. 25

STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council expresses the views of the students in regard to school activities and establishes the general routine that is followed by the students. It consists of the class presidents and home room chairmen. The officers are: president, Harold Ilykesg vice-president, Theda Lehrg secretary, Pilar Chicote. The faculty advisers are: Miss Clara M, Cassel, Mr. Wilbur F. Zimmerman, and Mr. Clarence Oren- dorf. 24

mic BAND The hand gives all students who are proficient on band in- struments an opportunity to play in an instrumental group. The performers learn to work together, become acquainted with re- hearsal routine, study the great musical literature that is arranged for the band, increase their own musical knowledge, develop a greater appreciation of all aspects of music, improve their own instrument ter,-linique, and prepare band music for artistic public performance. The band is also expected to be an integral part of the life of the school and the community. The activities of the band include the spring concert, pep meetings and assemblies. The group is under the direction of Richard B. Shade, who replaced Charles L. Jones in the fall, The officers are: George Fetrow, president, James Fink, Doll Zirkle, and Harold Hykes, vice-presidents, Roy Strausbaugh, secretary, and Rovena Sweitzer and Stanley Craft, librarians.
