And yet, the past and the future hangs in perfect balance. All focused on the present. ' We stand at the front door of the past welcoming each day that pas- ses through, watching tomorrows become today. l '1 i Each day has its burdens, of triumph, of defeat, of laughter, of bitterness l and in our hearts, hot and restless is where our school spirit is kept. I The school works up with cries and struggles to its climaxp but when the great moments comes, and the very top pitch of tense emotions is to be ex- T ressed, the students stand voiceless, and motionless in the extremity of , y assion. l In our dreams we hear the turn of the key that shall close thedoor of the last year. , l The swift passing of forgotten faces, the echoes of voices now forever still and the tinge of times of happiness now nevermore possible. just AfiSplashg And Then It's Gone U J ' ...ff F X f. x , l x . During the school year there are ballgames at which the band and Damsels perform and dress up day at school to root for our team. We wear crazy socks or crazy clothes, we sing songs, play music or just plain cheer to show our school spirit. Wrestling, track, and girls athletic events also get people involved. 6!DAlLY LIFE School lsn't So Bad D , il. sr-f' - A! Music performers practice their number for the annual Pops Concert. B! Swing Choir and Drama Club both did an excellent job before leaving for Christmas vacation. Many students had comments and those performing were proud about what they said. Comments such as, I thought it was better than any we've ever had. Mrs. Longnecker, Drama Club sponsor said, Everyone involved worked enthusiastically and hard to put on a funny production. We all had a good time doing it. The kids used all their ideas and I think it was a success. Judy Ward exclaimed, I think it was the funniest thing I'd ever seen! E V322 '33- 'hLrf PEOPLEIZ3 ...a i It was the most hectic, busiest, wonderful year of all to most of the NHS seniors. There were memories of ball- games, tests, and getting our sen- ior pictures on November 14 and swapping them with other class- mates. Our senior key and a million other happenings are just memo- ries of the past and will never quite be the same after graduation. The 8th graduating class had 119 members. Of course, we lost some in january's mid-term, but fifteen of these returned in May for the graduation exercises. Many seniors will remember the first senior class Christmas party where we exchanged gifts after taking down the tree. Government and senior English were tough but we all lived through it. Through the tears and sorrows, tests and trials, it all paid off on May 25 when the class of 1975, decked out in green and gold, sat through the combined baccalau- reate and commencement exer- cises with smiles everywhere. New teachers, new surround- ings, and different students faced them on their first day. Forgotten locker numbers, wrong class rooms and dropped lunches all add to the long list of new experiences faced by the seventh graders. As the year progressed, so did the seventh grader. Each day they seemed to grow a little more sure of themselves. The class of '80 should be on their way to making their next years at NHS the happiest of their lives. The club decided to give a gift to the NHS Library in honor of the late Gary Stults who was a past president of the CFC. A highlight of the year was a bus trip to Disney World in Florida, March 13-16. Honor Society The Honor Society membership increased in '74-'75, and had al- most doubled since the past year. The members were faced with debt in the club treasury, and set a goal to get out of debt by spring. Fund raising was accomplished by sponsoring a fifties dance, and selling NHS T-shirts. 'Q nd Then It's Gone ? 5 114!CLOSING As the '75 school year draws to a close, so does the completion of another LANCE. Many hours were spent during and after school and on vacations to put our yearbook together. The staff members worked diligently throughout the entire year. While the work progressed, the staff hoped their purpose was por- trayed to the reader. This goal being able to capture in picture and in word, the important events of our school year. Of course, the staff was unable to recreate all of these happenings, but we tried to fully emphasize those in the yearbook. As one can see, the job of pro- ducing a yearbook is not possible for one person to do. But, with the cooperation of many people it was possible. Our advisor, Mr. Gary Cole, played the most important role in our work. He was willing to give many hours to the yearbook staff. He made the '75 LANCE possible. A special thank you goes to him from the staff members. Most worthwhile projects re- quire more than the usual effort. My staff members were willing to put forth this extra work, so neces- sary in the making of a great book. I would like to say thank you to this dedicated staff and to all per- sons making the '75 LANCE a reality.
