To music's soft and solemn strains, And parents' doting smiles, With flowing gowns and faces bright We walk on down the aisle. A hush falls o'er the friendly crowdg As we approach the stage It seems our book of memories Turns over, page by page. We see ourselves as sophomores, 'I'he strangeness that we knew: The seniors grave that we dismayed As down the halls we flew, And then as juniors we returned To worry 'bout our prom And history testsg we, like the rest, Assumed a natural calm. Then - mighty seniors at last! Our previous studying ceased As yearbook-work took up our time And interests increased. Now we recall the many pranks And crazy things we have done: The originality we have shown, And recognitions won. But the joy of graduation So long looked forward to Is dimmed: our school-fun's over, We part with friends we knew. And now the speaker's finishedg Diplomas crisp and white That signify a milestone reached Are held in hands clenched tight.
