Troy Tournament The Northeastern basketball team won their first tournament game, making a Northeastern High School first. The Jet team conquered Milton Union, Springfield South High, and Troy High Schools before they fell to the Fairborn Flyers. Tliis poem i». mnir-i--w!i». iVe had all heard that old cliche Heartbreak Trail begins today. e hadn ' t known just what it meant ' , rill the Troy District cage event. K dozen players; one good boss, 1 jest the players called him, Hoss. et, they each knew what it meant to fail; rhey had not won the M.R.V.L. ' rhey ' d had their samplings of defeat, rhey ' d played to jeers from enemy seats. dozen players, a man named Hoas, :t would end for them with but one loss . rhey started down that tortuous way, ' ive crucial games, to win they ' d play. ■ rhe first and second foes did fall, rhen mighty Troy loomed so tall. Hie Trojans strove then met their fate, rheir fall determining our next date. rhe Fairborn Flyers opposed the Jets, [Tie odds were even on all bets . rhe game was close, the win in sight, rhe struggle dear, we lost our might. fie lost our poise, we lost our style, e didn ' t score for quite some while. Vnd soon we sensed the end was near, I ret we approached it without fear, fie had shown that when you ' re right, nd when you aren ' t afraid to fight, iuge barriers can be overcome; ' rhat in losing right, we ' d really won.
