One of the major responsibilities is to provide an expanded and enriched technical program to keep abreast of the change. Scientific knowledge has increased more in this generation than it has since the beginning of time. It is estimated that the present scientific knowledge will be doubled within the next decade. These are phrases descriptive of nurses who are dedicated specialists, nurses who have behind them years of study and work dispensing medi- cine, giving baths, smelling ether for the first time, learning to overcome emotions, and learning to work with the patients and skill necessary for the trained nurse.
