I65 We at Northeast strive to live up to our motto, which urges us to Be the Best . In our zest for living and search for knowledge, we have found that time soon runs out. It is because of the fact that Time waits for no man, we must do our best in the time that we do have. In this book we have reviewed all of the 1966-67 school year in pictures and words. We have packed all of the time earned and spent at Northeast into these covers. Dedication - - 14 Mrs. Susie K. Fields When we keep our faces toward the sun. we fail to see the shadows behind us. Mrs. Susie Fields, whose life was tragically taken by accident in July of 1966, exemplified these words in her life. She wasia testimony to the happiness and sunshine in our lives. She is remembered by her fellow teachers and former students for her belief that life truly has Love1iness to sell, all beautiful and splendid things. We loved her, but her memory is a benediction. l In Memoriam Marvin Grenshaw Marvin Crenshaw attended Northeast Junior High School in grades, seven, eight. and nine. The Language Arts Department of Northeast consists of eleven members. This department is vitally im portant to the total development of each student. Knowing English enables students to be aware of every phase of the Language Arts program: reading. writing, speaking. and listening. Reading is important be- cause one learns to communicate well with other people and is able to interpret their feelings. Writing lets people know how one feels. Being able to speak can help one express himself adequately. Of equal sinifi- cance is being able to listen. One learns most by listening because this.is the key to learning. For the first time in several years. this department is teaching composition and literature during the same semester. Al- though the two areas are integrated, one has an important relationship to the other. The teachers of this de- partment are very cooperative. spend long and tedious hours in checking papers. and must maintain unlim- ited patience with their students. James Boddie Tennessee State B.
