baffle - . Q f Q ligiis-6 Aeio - EH? . . . .3 CRerniniscences I5 if I Ho hum, sighed the Stroller as she laid down her book. That book is a per- fect bore. Fifteen years ago, when I was writing articles for the Northeast Junior I-II-LITE, we did not have such tiresome books. Let me see! As a happy thought struck her, VVhere is the diary of school happenings which I kept that winter? I believe l'll look up stairs in my old school trunk, it may be there. Suiting the action to the word, the Strol- ler rose from her easy chair and went up- stairs to the little old trunk of which she had spoken. Opening it she found her an- nuals and some copies of the HI-LITE and the Nor'easter. In a secluded corner she found the diary for which she was look- ing. Sure enough, there it was with the Purple and Gold binding almost as bright as the day she got it, fifteen years before. You darling book, breathed the Stroller tenderly, as she reverently lifted the little book from its resting place. You take me back to my first year in high school, when we had such good times together. Going back to her chair she settled down comfortably and opening the book, read: Sept. '8, 1925-School started today with a bunch of badly scared Freshies. We didn't do much today, but the signs look good for some real studying. And we did study some, too, reflected the Strol- ler Whimsically. ,. N fit ex ...gglf jx of-I .fe I Q Z L X g ' E I rl' file Ria? I nf, 5 gy ' ' Sept. ll-It sure seems good to attend school only in the afternoon. I can sleep as late as I like. My teachers are all fine and I like my subjects too. I believe he was a kid himself once. He secmsilike a real good sport. Sept. '28-Our own private and particular Junior High paper is to be called the, fjunior H1-LITE. Special girls' assembly in honor of girls week. Announced the organizing of Girl Reserves next week. Sept. 29-H1-LITE staff selected today. I remember that Ed Mills was so puffed up that he couldn't get his hat on for three days. He said later that his hat had an elastic band in it, too. Oct. l--Campfire Girls and Girl Reserves organized today. I was so angry because I could belong to only one of them. I could hardly decide which one to join. Oct. 6-New junior High looking fine. The program consisted of two glee club and orchestra numbers, and some good recitations by Mitchell Coxwell and Mari'- etta Daniels, of Miss Van Natta's ex- pression class, also some sleight-of-hand stuff, by two senior high boys, Todd Frasier and VVilliam Young. Supper was served with Miss Gufler in charge. The refreshments consisted of cookies and punch. CContinued on Page 1153 ,-'playa Fm 5x 6? OWHGXI One Hundred Tlzirfrm
