iii? if is get 0 Emi. - . Ju? Miss CJ,KLIEFE M155 HQAR Girls' cflthletics The Northeast junior High girls' athletic course consists of four main divisions, gymnasium, swimming, dancing and hygiene. Although there is no competition with other schools, the rivalry between classes is keen. Miss Q'Keefe and Miss Hoar, both of whom have been members of the Junior High faculty for three years, feel this year has been one of which they may justly be proud. Miss O'Keefe has instructed two hundred and thirty-two girls in gym work, one-hundred and seven in hygiene, and one-hundred and seven in swimming. Miss Hoar has taught the fundamentals of dancing to as many as two hundred and thirty-two girls and hygiene and swimming to one- hundred and twenty-five. The baseball season began October Z0 and ended November 23. This sport brought forth much spirited rivalry between classes. The fourth hour class in Miss Hoar's division, captained by Murray Robinson, won the league champion- ship by defeating Miss G,Keefe,s third-hour by a score of 5 to 2. Volley ball came next and many exciting contests were held. The fourth hour class in Miss O'Keefe's division finally claimed the championship by defeat- ing the hfth hour 21 to 7. The Duck Club, organized among the girls' gym classes, consists of girls who pos- sess unusual aquatic ability. It has a membership of twenty-three girls of whom two are Life Savers. Perfect posture as well as excellent diving is sought by the Ducks. The chief aim of this group is to become Life Savers. Under the supervision of Miss O'Keefe, the Duck Club gave one of the most interesting side shows of the Jubilee. The dancing classes under the supervision of Miss Hoar, began the year with the fundamentals and a few simple dances. These were followed by folk-danc- ing, interpretation of music, and nursery rhymes. Most of the dancing students began the course with no previous instruction and nearly all are now creditable dancers. One Himdrecl Serxen
