In their first meet, the K. C. A. C. invitation meet, they literally ran away from their opponents. Billy Miller and George Rogers placed first and third respec- tively in the dash and the relay team nosecl out Central after a hard uphill battle. The M. U. K. U. dual meet resulted in Northeast's first defeat in two years. Both sprinters were disqualified by the starter for jumping the gunl' in the finals, thus leaving that event and the meet to Vtfestport who placed both sprinters without effort. March 27 saw the Purple team again carrying off the honors with firsts in the dash and the relay in the junior division of the Kansas Conference meet, the last meet of the season. Riding on the crest of the fighting Northeast spirit which has always kept the Purple and Grange teams near the top of the championship ladder, the 1926 cage stars set the pace for the K. C. Junior league from the opening game and recorded an all-triumphant year. The Purple team rang up the curtain of the 1925 season with a 21-10 victory over the Alumni team, December 18. While the juniors kept their opponents well in hand throughout the game, their play was still somewhat erratic and ragged. The next game, although it brought defeat to the Purple team at the hands of the Rockhurst Seconds, saw them displaying a smoother and better brand of basketball. The Juniors led the visiting team for the first three periods, but the superior weight and experience of their opponents told and they were forced to take the short end of an 18-15 score. The league schedule opened with a 33 to 20 victory over the Central Junior quintet, January 8, on Central's court. The Purple team led at all points of the game and evidences of their championship caliber were frequent. The next game at Northeast, january 15, saw the Manual jinx of last year broken decisively, the Manual Frosh bowing before an irresistible attack which left them holding the small end of a 37 to 12 score. The Juniors centered the iron rim repeatedly from close quarters while the Manualites were forced to depend on long shots for counters as Northeast's five-man defense proved impenetrable. The Juniors closed the first half of the league schedule by trouncing West- port lunior's team 39 to 11, January 22, on Westport's court. This game sound- ed the death knell of the hopes of the other league teams, for throughout the re- mainder of the season the Purple team never faltered in its victorious stride. The next start saw them easily overwehlm Central by a 24 to 11 score. The Manual Frosh threatened to stop the champions in a close game February 5, on the Man- ual court, but were nosed out 18 to 17. The championship was formally annexed February 12, when Westport once more bowed to the Purple team to the tune of 29 to 6. This game saw the play of the Juniors at the peak for the season. A whirlwind attack was started with the opening gun and maintained throughout the game. The defense allowed Westport but one field goal, the other points coming via the free-throw route. In the final game of the season February 15, the Country Day five was defeat- ed 21 to 8. The final gun marked the end of the season of play which is un- surpassed in the annals of the league and the Purple team will go down in the history of junior High as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, ever playing under her colors. pfqga fi Zozo Klfwxw of ow- 'W One Hmzdrecl Three

Although ineligibility has taken three of last year's regular point Winners from the team and threatens some of the newer members, the superior performance of the indoor team indicates that Whoever wins the championship must beat Northeast. U The 1925 outdoor team won the Quadrangular meet by the large margin of forty-two points. In earlier dual meets, they trounced Westport l34M to 292, and defeated K. C. K. Central juniors 59 to 23. The total score amassed by them was 535 points to M322 of their opponents. Qnly three letter men have returned from last year's Championship Squad, Chester Qlds, Walter Binner, and jack Peterson having been declared ineligible by the new rule regarding English credits. The men who returned are Vestas Greeson tcaptainj, hurdler, Billy Miller, pole-vaulter, sprinter, and hurdler, and George Rogers, class B sprinter. 1 Disregarding ineligibility, the prospects in the field events, the sprints, and the relays give promise of a well-balanced, all-around team. With all of the indoor team and an average of six or seven others trying for each event, the team promises to live up to the ine precedent set by the 1925 outdoor team.
