As the months Went by time and tension Seemed to lessen. The Stress became a little More bearable because Of the feeling of freedom Yet to come — freedom To live, to create, to Advance and to prosper In a future even Broader than might be Expected. Feelings of joy And happiness. The Noisy halls were Filled with warmth — Beautiful faces; People talking, laughing, And enjoying life. A great rainbow of Red and gold settled Like a mist of joy. Feelings of love and Togetherness. Feelings of one Another touching. Feelings of Reaching out for another, though So far away. As Some of us sat back And idled our Years away letting time Pass us by, we reached back To grasp the emptiness. . . The loneliness The loneliness That as individuals We could not Fulfill. The tender Voice and that Gentle, encouraging Push made our Stride just a Little more Contident. Feelings of the past and Feelings of the present Will live in our hearts Forever. Elizabeth Jones Gregory Barfield Eugene Little Birdice Hill Eugene is Vice-President of the Senior Class, Star Student Runner-up, Sen- ior Representative of the National Honor Society, and a member of the Student Council. He is also a member of the marching and concert bands, a member of the Physics Club, and Trea- surer of the Math Club. Eugene was named to Who's Who Among American High Schools and selected as a final- ist in the National Achievement Scholar- ship Program for Out- standing Negro Stu- dents. Linda is Editor-in-Chief of the GOLDEN STAR and President of the National Honor Society. She is Best Citizen and winner of the National Council of Teachers of English Writing Award. Birdice is President of the Physics Club and a member of the National Honor Society.
