We see trees writing poems against the sky. The wind song is our music. 4 Pa A | yam VY re - The dawning of this beautiful day is etched on our hearts . . as unforgettable as the beginning of friendship. The world is warm around us. The tears of night and the haze and uncertainty of morning disappear in this strong. secure noontime we share . . and everywhere glows the sun. Its rays dance on the rippled waters. . . . nourishing wild flowers Its warmth mingles with the wind. and lacy ferns. Its strong fingers reach It speaks to the sleeping seeds into the cool earth... and coaxes them to life. It is like the summer of friendship . the time when shyness is forgotten and trust is forged. . . strong and enduring. Time when all is revealed. . . and accepted. Glad-hearted time of the strong handclasp and merry laughter . _ time we share. We follow the sun nou out of the tangle of trees and vines . into an open place . a golden field in the afternoon. A place where we can pause and talk and share our dreams. We are alone now in the half-light . _ in the place of shado ws The old my stertes return to us. It is time to wait for that first star of evening . time to listen to our memories. Bibb County Board of Education : arp Dr. L. We see him as some- one who cares about students not only as learners, but as human beings. He is a warm person and if you seek his advise, he will go out of his way to help you. It is clearly evident that Mr. Wright is edu- cated not only in the realm of academia, but also in the world of human experi- ence. We had to go behind your back to do it, but it is with great pleasure and gratitude that the staff of the 1973 VALHALLA dedicates this yearbook to Mr. George Lewis Wright. Membership is, however, more than an honor; it carries with it a responsibility and should be considered the beginning of an obligation; not merely the successful culmination of an effort to achieve recognition and honor. Once selected for membership, a student is singled out. To them | wish to express my thanks, and in some cases, pleas for forgiveness: the great people on the VALHALIA Staff, for putting up with my temper and putting out this book; Larry Naylor, Taylor Publishing Company; our advisors, Mrs. Seward, Mr. Graham, and Mr. Wright; everyone at Meriwether Studios; the Administration and Faculty of Northeast, for their patience with our many mistakes and late notices; Brian Page, for his help with the pictures; and a special thanks to my parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Heard, my brother, George, John, Deb, and Cathy, for just being there when | needed them. It is the sincere wish of the staff and myself that we have produced a yearbook which correctly records the many events of the 1972- 1973 year at Northeast Senior High School.
