Straining their eyes and ears, two Northeast students, Mike Press and Stan Seaton, conduct an experiment on Northeast's electronic equipment. Northeast is fortunate in having one of the few electronic departments in the state of Oklahoma. Qports and Play-pro students, Hubert Farbes, Dean Simmons, and Ann Hirschi, performed in an assembly early this year to promote school spirit and enthusiasm. They presented to the student body examples of what type student each of us should be. 6

Privileges of Cars When Henry Ford, American inventor and manufacturer, completed his first automobile, a whole new world soon came into being, and from that first car our nation has now become a country where cars are among the most impor- tant possessions we own. They have become a status symbol to many, only transportation to some, but to most teenagers, an exciting and fascinating necessity. However thrilling the privilege of driving may be, the average high school driver realizes the seriousness of his responsibility. He is aware that no other undertaking offers a stronger challenge to cool judgment, skill, and good sportsmanship. He feels that, judged by the requirements of mental alertness, adherence to the rules, professional knowledge of tools, and sober judgment, driving an auto- mobile makes many other accomplishments seem trivial by comparison. The path of the competent driver, veteran or youth, is lined with codes of good sportsmanship and respect for the power beneath the foot-pedal and the techniques involved in every simple or complex maneuver of the ton or more of steel under his control. Knowing these things to be true and important to Northeast students, the Nordlys Staff has chosen as its theme for this year . . . Cars, and we take pleasure in presenting our new model for this year, the 1965 Nordlys.
