He has been with us since l939. ln the Air Force for fifteen years, he has served in World War ll and in the Korean War. He has one son, Kent, a graduate of Northeast, who is now married and attending Oklahoma Uni- versity. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Mas- ter's Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Oklahoma. W New

The uperintendent Dr. Barnes, our Superintendent of the Okla- homa City Public Schools, was reared in eastern Pennsylvania. He received his education in Ill- inois and obtained a bachelor's degree at Green- ville College in l932. He received his Master's Degree in l932 and his Ph. D. Degree in l94l at the University of Illinois. He has taught at the University of Maine, Wheaton College, San Diego State College, and the University of Califomia. He has also taught summer school at Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma University. He became Assistant Superintendent in charge of instruction in the Oklahoma City Schools in August, l950. Among the many new faces added to the faculty were Mrs. Biles, Mrs. Alexanders, Miss Humble, Miss Fees, Mr. Potts, Mr. Lower, and Ml: Nutt. Teachers were not the only additions to Northeast. There were new classes tool A course in General Languages, a one-semester course offered to eighth 'grade pupils, is an introductory course to foreign language, and includes six weeks of French, six weeks of Spanish, and six weeks of Latin, It is designed to give students an opportunity to de- cide whether they wish to make further study of foreign language. Offered also to the eighth grade is Junior Business Training, which is also a one-semester course. lt includes elementary book- keeping and accounting, filing, use of business forms, and the writing of busi- ness letters.
