We've had our trials and tribulations We've had our school and our vacations And we'll think back with consolation 'Til the end of time. We'll all go our separate ways, To the inland and to the bays, But we'll recall our Northeast days, 'Til the end of time. 66 77 0l,Ul'l el'l'l0I'g ane SEPTEMBER School opened September 9. Unified Studies plan was introduced. Grace Lindley was elected president of Student Council. Seniors elected officers: Benny Reaves, Archie Kautz, John Barnett, and Elaine Lininger, First pep as- sembly, Britton game, we won. Junior Rotarians: Paul James, Archie Kautz, Bobby Scranton, Benny Reaves, H. D. Petty, and Thurman Myers were selected by the faculty to serve as Junior Rotarians. Norsemen, Norkets, and Bond Frat selected pledges, poor souls. OCTOBER Eye tests were given to the students. We lost to Classen. National Aviation Week, Air Clinic at the Cap- itol. Shirley Folmar was crowned Band Queen during St. Gregory game, we won, 40-0. Speech Tournament. P-TA night meeting. A Bonfire in Norsemen Hollow introduced Football Queen Candidates. Hollowe'en brought the Foster Homecoming game, Billie Ann Henry was crowned Football Queen by Captain Kenny Vaughn. NOVEMBER A cappella choir sang with the Symphony. Dolores Willard was chosen Band Frat Sweetheart. We lost to Put- nam City. Some of the steadies were still going steady. Honor Society initiated 20, Benny Reaves, president. Sadie Hawkins Day, Archie Kautz and Don Roberts were voted Most Eligible Bachelors. Pan American became Na- tional. The Norsemen Pep club announced their Sweet- heart-Grace Lindley. Father and Son week, Archie Kautz, Benny Reoves, Bobby Scranton, Don Roberts, and Joe Young served. The All-School Play, Cliff Sherrod and Shirley Folmar were selected to lead the Oklahoma! parade, which was cancelled because of the weather. DECEMBER Everyone had fun at the Pon American party. We won our first basketball game from Edmond. The Junior High sponsored a mixer. The Football Banquet was held in the Venetian roam at the Y. Benny Reaves was select- ed for the All-State team. G. R. had their Christmas party and dance, Dolores Willard was elected president. We played Capitol Hill and lost. School was dismissed De- cember 20 for Christmas vacation, the December edition of the Scroll came out. Naomi Callarman was the editor. JANUARY Back to our school daze. Pep assembly, but we lost to Classen and Anadarko. The Nordlys assembly, Bill Dane and Elaine Lininger were crowned King and Queen-of the yearbook, Grace Lindley officiated. The faculty chose Doris Steffee Junior Altrusa member. Sara Skinner was hostess to a Quill and Scroll party in her home in Twin Hills. Semester ended with the purchase of a Record Player by the Council. Sylvia Van Eaton and Bonnie Greer were elected president and vice-president, respectively, of the Norkets at an initiation-installation at Gloria Jones's house. Choir went to Stillwater while the first half of the yearbook went to press. The Norsemen elected officers: Bobby Bough, Archie Kautz, Robert Davidson, James Hold- er, and Kenneth Simmons. FEBRUARY We lost to Chickosha ll pointi. Dorothy Meeks was hostess to the Quill and Scroll party at her Guthrie cabin. At last!! The Senior rings arrived!! The seniors were com- pletely happy. Kenneth Voughn, senior high council pres- ident, and Jeannie McNeil, junior high president, were in- stalled. Last pep assembly for the cheer leaders: Dolores Willard, Grace Lindley, Bobby Bough, Kenneth Simmons, and alternate, Lindsey Crow. Buddy Legg was hurt and unable to ploy in the last game with Putnam City, an awful loss to the team fond the girlsl. The Block Skirts present- ed an assembly. Senior speakers were chosen by the senior class: Milton Johnson, Paul James, Grace Lindley, and Dor- othy Bonnell, alternates, Elaine Lininger and Benny Reoves. MARCH The boys went on strike, they stopped shaving until the l5th. The basketball tournament was held, and the All-School play, Night of January l6th, was presented by the play production class. G. R. had a Kid Party at the Y, and did the boys look cute? Yes! Ada was the meeting place for the speech tournament. Track, golf, and baseball started in full swing. Boxing tournaments were held after school. Congratulations to the winners. The Nordlys Staff rested after racing to meet the deadline, March l. APRIL April Fool!!! Day, that is, was welcomed by many iokesl?i The G. R. sponsored the annual Pre-Easter serv- ices which were held in the morning. Getting to school so early was nothing to the band and choir members because they're here every morning at 8:00. The Easter assembly was enjoyed by all. The English department pre- sented an assembly. The Norsemen had the annual din- ner-dance for the basketball boys. The track meet was held. The G. R. spring dance for the senior girls was suc- cessful, the reason, Shirley Folmar was the chairman. MAY April showers bring May flowers, also it brought the spring musical directed by Miss Smith. Wonderful it was!! Awards assembly came next. And, of course, the senior girls' slumber party at Helen Baird's will never be forgotten, neither will DITCH DAY. The senior breakfast was out of this world. Here's to more Proms, they're perfect. And then-the unforgettable finals. The senior edition of the Scroll and The Nordlys came out. The Baccalaureate on Sunday afternoon, the 25th, the Commencement services Wednesday, 28th, and Junior High Promotion exercises will forever be remembered. And some of the steadies made it. School was closed May 30th for the summer vacation.
