So it is with us high school students, we do our daily tasks with the popular songs of the present on our tongues, but bear- ing in our hearts the lingering melodies of yesteryear. That Music is the universal language of man- kind is irrefutable. Deep Purple, Clair De Lune, Star- dust, or the latest dance version of The Gypsy all have their definite places and associations in our hearts and lives. When the gang gets together for a party, or we go for a walk, it does not take long for our favorite songs to come to the foreground with the cup of in- dividual expression running over, be the gang from Oklahoma or Deep ln The Heart of Texas. It was with these thoughts that The Nordlys staff selected Favorite Songs for the theme of this year's book, observing the school's Tentl- Anniversary. ff fx an K X xx L rw? ,br u N 415 M121 QZQAZQM 9' Mm 47 , 5 f YV' K - af! J. B. GREENE OLLHJQKAPJ To listen, to encourage, to aid, or to counsel-that is the privilege of each member of the counselling staff of Northeast High School. In order to give each student understanding of the many factors that contribute to a better American way of living, the program of Unified Studies has been developed this year. Student Council, pep meeting, safety education, em- ployment problems, auditorium programs, special speak- ers, visual education, occupational study, and other group activities form a part ofthe day's schedule in the life of each counsellor. Each teacher is a counsellor to the students in his or her particular group, but general counselling for both individuals, pupils, and groups has been the work of each counselling staff member. To provide such opportunities for growth is the privilege ofa counsellor's assignment. MISS SUE HARROD J. A. WILES as CHARLES H. We've had our trials and tribulations We've had our school and our vacations And we'll think back with consolation 'Til the end of time. We'll all go our separate ways, To the inland and to the bays, But we'll recall our Northeast days, 'Til the end of time. Now we're leaving Northeast High, But we'll recall, as time goes by, And see these days in our mind's eye 'Til the end of time.
