' Their outstanding work in the tree planting campaign, under the direction of Betty lane Hoch was recognized by the state in their asking Wilbur Care, the president of the student body, to speak on the same program with Governor Kerr at the Arbor Day planting of a pecan tree on the state capitol grounds ln developing this project, so ably organized by the first semester Council under the leadership of President Glenn Smith and carried to completion by the second semester Council and its president Wilbur Care, the Council did not neglect its other responsibilities, Under its leadership, the lull Red Cross quota for membership, Childrens Fund, and Special Funds were met, and its full quota of Red Cross Christmas boxes was filled. During both semesters the Council has done a satisfactory job in salvage drives. f'TAdllhhl A new responsibility, taken on this year at the suggestion o the l.- . . an tie ug sc oo principal, was the promotion of attendance at night meetings of the P.AT.A. resulting in the largest crowds the history of the organization has ltnown.
