MR. E. A. MARKEY Vice Principal This year has been an unusually successful one for Northeast, athletically, so- cially, and scholastically. One man who has done a great deal to push I hou Dear to that success is Mr. E. A. Markey, in this, his first year as her Vice Principal. Mr. Markey completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Central Missouri State College and his Master of Arts at the University of Iowa. From 1937 to 1956. he coached the Northeast varsity football team to many victories, and under his lead- ership, they achieved seven city championships. He left Northeast in 1956 to assume the job of Consultant of Boys’ Physical Education for the Kansas City High Schools. Mr. Markey’s strong interest in sports is demonstrated by his selection of hobbies, for he enjoys fishing and is a spectator at many football, basketball, and track events. With a sincere concern for his'school and capabilities extending into many fields. Mr. E. A. Markey has gained the admiration and respect of all Northeast Vikings. 7

MR. M. WAYNE McKANNA Principal Northeast is extremely fortunate in having as its administrator a man such as Mr. McKanna, whose interest in and knowledge of all phases of Northeast life make him well-qualified to cope with those many little (and big) problems that are somehow continually arising. Through his efforts, Northeast students were given the opportunity to join with those of Glcnnon High School in forming a Northeast Youth Community Council which, in turn, set up a Northeast Youth Traffic Court. Mr. McKanna enjoys gardening, woodwork, traveling, and of course all sports activities in which the talents of Northeast’s superb athletes are demonstrated. Because of his wise assistance in their problems, his sincere interest in their achievements, and his loyal support of their activities, the Nor’easters join in ex- pressing to Mr. M. Wayne McKanna a big, hearty “Thanks!” 6

MR. 8AM PASSIGLIA That friendly, smiling face so familiar to all Northeast students belongs to the sopho- more and senior counselor, Mr. Sam Pas- siglia. His cheerful personality and keen sense of humor has won for him many friends. Assisting with enrollment, selecting pupils for special classes and activities, test- ing for scholarships, and counseling students about college are only a few of the many duties which are his. MRS. AGNES WENDEL After only two years at Northeast, Mrs. Agnes VVendel, has become a vital part of our school life. Though she has many re- sponsibilities to keep her busy, the Fresh- men and Juniors always find her ready to listen to their problems and lend helpful advice. In her own words — “I’m proud to be one of the members of the faculty.” 8
