Mr. I. F. Boyd Vice-Principal For the first two months ofthe 1956- 57 school year, Mr. J. F. Boyd again held the position of vice-principal of Northeast High School. In November of 1956 he was appointed principal of Manual High School. Mr. Boyd was respected and well liked by both students and faculty. He possesses, to a high degree, the necessary tact, intelligence, and sense of humor for handling the problems of a vice- principal. When off duty, Mr. Boyd was always a steadfast supporter of North- east at all athletic events. He spends his spare time at his hob- by, which is woodworking. He says that this affords him much pleasure and re- laxation. Mr. Boyd has the best wishes of all Nor'easters in his new position. Boyd ...ll ,...,.......,,....................-..-- wC Mr. Fred Heine, Vice-Principal This year Northeast welcomed a new Vice-Principal, Mr. Fred Heine. Before be- coming vice-principal, Mr. Heine taught physical education for two years at Elm- hurst College, and Mathematics and Com- merce for four years at East High School. For the last eleven years he has taught mathematics, and assisted Mr. Markey with the Northeast varsity football team. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Baker University, his Master's Degree from the University of Kansas City, and has done additional graduate work at the Uni- versity of Chicago. Mr. Heine's life is not all work and no play, however. His outside interests lie principally in sports and in reading books about political social science. In the summer Mr. Heine is superintendent of the Swope Park Swimming Pool. 9

Mr. M. Wayne lVIeKanna Principal At the beginning of the school year, Mr. M. Wayne McKanna became the new principal at Northeast. Before coming to this school, he taught for thirty-one years in the public schools of Northeastern Missouri and in Kansas City. He served as principal in several of these schools. Mr. McKanna obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree at the Northeast Missouri State Teach- ers' College, his Master's Degree at the Univer- 8 sity of Missouri, and did further graduate work at the University of Missouri and at the Uni- versity of Kansas. Besides his school work, Mr. McKanna is very active in a number of community organi- zations. He takes special interest in scouting Work and in traveling. Mr. McKanna is always ready to give his time in helping students with their many problems.

Miss Margaret L. Taylor Counselor Miss Margaret Taylor, Northeast's counselor, has many daily duties, and cheerfully performs every task. Each day many students visit her office to consult her about their school prob- lems. Seniors go to her for advice in choosing a college and to receive help in obtaining scholarships. Miss Taylor's outside interests lie in music, in traveling, and in col- lecting, cutting, and polishing rocks. Her hobby is making jewelry from stones which she has found.
