This program enables students to earn their high school diplomas and at the same time gain actual work experience. These studem attend school in the morning and, from Mr. Roedl, receive classroom instruction on how most effectively to handle their jobs. They leave school at noon to go to their places of employment. CEIFCCI' S The careers class helps students in choosing the vocation for which they are best suited. The requirements, preparation, and rewards of each occupation are analyzed, thus providing an excellent opportunity for careful and wise se- lection. Driver training has now become an important part of our school curriculum. The course is taught for one semester, limited to a maximum of fifty stu- dents vvho spend two days each week in class, studying their manuals on different phases of safety. One day of each Week a student drives a training car, which is pro- vided through the Automobile Club and the Union Chevrolet Company. The car is dual controlled, so that when the student drives, the instructor is able to take over quickly in an emergency. The course teaches techniques and skills in handling a car, as Well as traffic safety. 25

These students are looking forward to their senior year, and many are giving careful consideration to the choice of a career. This class elected as its officers the following: President, Richard Treckellp Vice-President, Donald Chapin, Secretary, Nancy Wasson, Treasurer, Io Ann Lusbyp Sergeant at Arms, Suzanna Brown, Gittorian, Donald Hatfield, and Reporter, Donald Best. They acted as a committee to help plan one of the most im- portant social events of the year, the lunior- Senior Prom. Another happy incident in the lite oi the Iuniors is the day they order their Senior Class rings and pins, for they realize that they are now about to reach the dignity of being called SENIOBS. 27
