HEADS OF STAFF, FIRST SEMESTER-Feraldine Hill. First-Page Editor: Katherine Hogan, Second-Page Editor: Barbara Io Sweeney, Third-Page Editor: David Bywaters, Tl-lE STOR In the first semester, the Newswriting Class, under the direction of Mr. Thomas Ditmars, studies the do's and don'ts of journalism: in the second semester, it receives the actual experience involved in publishing the school paper. The. Northeast Courier, as the paper was named in 1926, was first published in 1913, as a quarterly magazine. Since that time it has become a four-page newspaper, and is pub- lished every two weeks. The staff gathers the school news, and the printing classes, working under Mr. O. W. Kunz, set up the copy and print the paper, gen- erally working under a terrific strain to get the paper out on time. Fourth-Page Editor: lane Chartrand, Business Manager: Richard Harriman, Editor in Chief: Mr. Kunz, Printing Adviser. Y BEI-ll-ND Modeled after a daily newspaper's organiza- tion, the staff is composed of an editor in chief and four page-editors: business, mailing, and circulation managers: feature, exchange, and editorial editors: and the ever-faithful report- ers. The latter dig-up the news and place it in the hands of their respective editors, who work like mad the day before deadline, pre- paring the pages for the print shop. From the print shop, the paper is delivered to the stu- dents, faculty, and the out-of-town subscribers. Thus, through the co-operation of the print- ing department and the Courier Staff, Northeast students are kept up-to-date on school news. and those producing the paper receive valu- able experience in journalism. FIRST SEMESTER COURIER STAFF-BACK ROW: Edgar Reynolds, David Bywaters, Robert Drury, Richard Harriman, Don Holden, Roy Thornton. THIRD ROW: Betty Repass. Elizabeth Miller, Margaret Lawrence, Feraldine Hill, Bar- bara Io Sweeney, Iane Chartrand, Iack Price. SECOND 18 ROW: Patricia Parks, Dorothy Iones, Iune Baldwin, Doris Bledsoe, Ioan Frechin, Barbara Conway, Bonnie Brown. Mr. Ditmars. FRONT ROW: Marjorie Chalmers, Shirley How, Barbara Miller, Shirley Burns, Betty Bloom, Iacqueline Trader, Ioan Strong, Katherine Hogan.
