R. O. T. C. SERGEANT DOYLE C. WOOD MAJOR RICHARD HARRINGTON Sergeant Doyle C. Wootl enlisted in the Army, june 20, 1934, and was stationed with Com- pany I of the 17th Infantry. He served with this company for six years attaining the rank of Sergeant. He then received a discharge from the Army after which he stayed out seven months. Then in 1941 in view of the national emergency he reenlisted in the Headquarters Company at the reception center in Fort Leavenworth. He was promoted after 27 days to the rank of sergeant and was sent to Kansas University where he was an instructor in College R. O. T. C. He remained there until December 1942 when he came to Northeast as Sergeant Instructor. Since that time he has done remarkably well, having the largest R. O. T. C. Unit in Kansas City under his command. He is exceptionally well liked by all the cadet ofhcers under him as well as the non-coms and privates. To you, Sergeant Wood, we render a lasting salute in accordance with your fine teachings, sportsmanship, and accomplishments, and a sincere wish for your luck and success with R. O. T. C. next year and the years to come. The Northeast Battalion was ably commanded this year by Major Richard Harrington. Major Harrington has always been an eHicient R. O. T. C. cadet. He was promoted to Ser- geant in his second year, and was made a Second Lieutenant last year when he was a Senior I. This year he rose from the rank of Second Lieutenant to the rank of Major which he now holds. Major Harrington has been outstanding and a leader in other school activities also, being a member of the Student Council and on the Honor Roll. 28
