BASKETBALL nm., M, if if it K . . , ' A .F T 'V ,,... CQACH REEVES PETERS Managers- Pee Wee,' Frederick and 'KCurly Feiring Nine times the Northeast track squad has taken first place in the city meet and for more than twenty years her basketball team has fin- ished in the upper brackets. Coach Peters has been the inspiration for all of the above teams. Northeast is proud of Coach Peters. CHEERLEADERS Upper left is one type of inspiration but here is another. These were our razzle-dazzle kings and queens of 1943. Princess Carolyn Weins, mascot, is shown with the other members of her troupe. Note the original outfits. The fives of Chrisman, Ward, and Rockhurst proved too powerful for the Viking basketeers and their single lettermen. Off to a poor start, Coach Peters' Norsemen fought gallantly to redeem themselves in the Interscholastic League race. In this, they fought an uphill battle and although they were defeated four times, the purple and white waved over victory thrice. Foreseen hopes are established in five returning lettermen. Chuck', Shields, forward, was elected to the second all-star team and Mike Miller, center, was given an honorable mention. 22 9
