A FREE PRESS An Integral Part of American Democracy Activities and events at North- east are reported and written by members of the newswriting class, and printed on the school press by members of the printing classes. The result is the Northeast Courier —a typical school paper in a typi- cal American high school. MEMBERS OF THE SECOND SEMESTER STAFF WORKING ON COPY FOR THE PAPER Newswriters, who must constantly be on the alert for news and sufcyects for editorials —who must get the facts and get them straight—who must distinguish between essentials and non-essentials, are learning the fundamentals of Democracy, and how to implement them.
