Winters, T.Ferrin, G. Case, L. Wiggers, M. Vivian. K. Young, L. Dasher, S. Ingersol, G. Dalema, C. Richardson. The Hurricane Band, conducted by Mr. Richard Dasher, totaled 44 members this year.' The Band held concerts, performed at the football games, and sent delegates to the state and to the county musical clinics. The selection of Northeast's first major ettes highlighted the year's activities. The girls, all qualified Band members, were fea- tured in a number of the Band's performances during the year. Members of the eighth grade cheerleading team are; Nancy Miller, Barbara Burke, Wanda Schou tCaptaim, Sharon Lee tCo-captaim, and Lorraine Lucarella. Blondes, brunettes, and red-heads, yes, Northeast has them all on the cheerleading squad. The girls always gave the Hurricane football and basketball teams a terrific send- off during the athletic seasons. The purpose of the cheerleading squad is to in- crease and to maintain school spirit for athletic events and to promote the code of good sportsmanship. A 2.2 academic average is required to be a North- east cheerleader. The girls on the teams, eighth and nin'th, must maintain this average. The girls may not receive, E's or U's or mey are suspended for six weeks. If they should receive an F they are auto- matically dropped from the squad. Judy LoCasale was captain of the ninth grade squad. Other members were Pam Vincel, Sandra Cacaro, Shirley Thompson, Linda Ragon, and Nancy Bone. Wanda Schou was captain of the eighth grade squad. Other members were Sharon Lee. co-captain; Nancy Miller, Barbara Burke, and Lorraine Lucarella. The girls practiced twice a week. 64
