Perhaps the girls in the photo below are going home to make just such preparations. And so we come to the end of a brief glimpse of what one school, Northeast, attempts to accomplish with the Students whose education is entrusted to it. As was stated in the foreword, it is hoped that you who have been so patient in reading this book, will now turn to the last page with a more vivid picture of our school, Northeast Junior High. It is our pleasure to introduce you to the King and Queen of the Northeast student body for the year 1961-62. The King and Queen and royal court . . 79 Boys and girls are given the opportunity to listen to the words of wisdom and experience from those outside the school. They also have the chance to take field trips. The students are exposed to excellent public speaking and then given the opportunity to practice what they see and hear. The proper recognition of labor put forth on the part of a student is a highlight of the edu- cational technique employed at Northeast. There can be no greater means of motivation than the sincere acknowledge of a task well done. But Northeast is attempting to educate the whole child. Therefore, the student may seek and find aid in a number of fields directly related to his entire welfare. He may work in the shop, learn to drive a car. improve his reading, better his spelling and penmanship, or become involved in any one of a number of diversified areas. Here at Northeast he has these chances. Pencils, books, chalk, and tests are also a part of school. Sooner or later a student must sit down and attempt to indicate some portion of the knowledge that he has acquired. This too is a part of Northeast. . . . THE NORTHEAST WAY DEVELOPING BOYS AND GIRLS . . . The primary function of Northeast Junior High lies in the academic development of students. The administration and faculty work with the parents in bringing this goal into actuality. What better place to begin this brief portrait of our school than at the academic level. The individual student is encouraged to perform on his own when it is for his betterment. But there exist many situations when it is necessary that the teacher be ready, willing and capable of rendering his help and guidance. This skillful and helpful aid is accessible to the student in all the academic subjects, whether they be mathematics, science, language or social studies. 76 FEATURES m Uri pawn whey. n m; Bonnie Arnold Carolyn Ashurst Robert Barrett Dale Burke Sandra Cacaro Thomas Collins Linda David Doreen Deveau Thomas Dokter Frank F air Thomas Foltz Gary Gindlesperger I ocelyn Gratz Donna Hines Jack Hord Karen Hulett Craig Jenson Dennis K ane Pat Koren Pamela Lewellyn Joan MacNeil Bernadette Maglocco Janet McAdam John McLane Kathleen Mellilo , Constance Miller Dennis Murphy Dennis Nelson Loren Olson Grady Parker Douglas Phillips Wayne Rasku Roberta Roberts Cheryl Santiana John Schlegel Lynn Stevens Roger Stubing Roger Watts Joy Williamson HONOR SOCIETY 74 FUTURE HOMEMAKERS FIRST ROW; D.
