JOHN CARDINAL 0'HARA On August 28, 1960, Cardinal O'l-lara ended some 45 years of priestly service in this world. This city mourns his passing. From his studies in Montevideo, Notre Dame and Washington, D. C., he came to Phila- delphia tirst as a priest, then as an Archbishop. During all these years he became known as an outstanding Catholic educator and in 1958 was elected to the Sacred College of Cardinals. New schools and class- rooms have arisen under his leadership, more boys and girls than ever before have had the opportunity ot attending a Catholic High School. Yet, while foster- ing the new he never forgot the old stanclbys, the Cardinal's interest in North never lagged.

Catholic education in America has often passed under the scrutiny of Pope John XXIII during the short Time he has been our Holy Father. His great obiective is one of unity, the unity of all Christendom under one head. But this over-all unity must start from The bottom as well as the top if iT is ever To be an accomplished fact and no mere hopeful guest. The oneness Pope John desires so much demands a knowledge of the faith and the practical application of that learning by its members. The North Catholic graduate must be one with the Church, united with fellow-Catholics as well as fellow-graduates. He must be one with them in mind and thought, heart and spirit. Only then will he be able to take his place in the unity of all Christendom, the aim so dear to our Holy Father.
