0PE J0flN XXIII His Holiness Pope John XXIII has proved to be the world's fore- most advocate of peace during these uncertain times. Just as Christ, the Good Shepherd, strengthened His Church by his selec- tion of twelve assistants, Pope John has also strengthened our Church by increasing the number of the Princes of the Church throughout the world. Among these are four newly elevated North American Cardinals. The entire Christian world looks toward Rome and Pope John for peace. We offer up our prayers for the success of all the en- deavors which he will attempt during his reign as the Supreme Pontiff.

Bishop Schlotterback and Father Tocik discuss the new developments in the mission fields of Africa. During his recent visit to the school the Bishop spoke to the student-body about the rigors and hardships en- countered in his diocese in Keetmanshoop, Southwest Africa. Because of native vocations the iob of spreading the Gospel of Christ has been made considerably easier, but much work remains to be done. We at North Catholic will pray for your continued success.
