FOREWORD And God said, ’Let there be light: ' and there was light. And God saw the light that it was good; and God divided the light from the dark¬ ness. If fears, superstitions, and prejudices are the offspring of the dark world of ignorance; the light of knowledge then becomes the birthplace of valor, understanding, and tol¬ erance. The light of knowledge is the theme of this yearbook. Our parents first shared their light of knowledge with us. Then the community shared its light with us in the form of teachers, schools, and churches. One of their goals is that we should receive as much light as we can absorb, for they believe that knowledge will light our future. Because the future is unknown, knowledge is needed to illuminate it. Our cover is a stylized sunburst or a modern symbol of the light of knowledge. Our division pages are candles, the long recognized symbol of light. They sym¬ bolize that knowledge which is available to us today. The Editors

IN MEMORIAM Vaughn Jones has been a familiar figure in the school and community life of this area for many years. Many are the students and adults alike who will remember the cheery Goodmorning and Goodnight which he always had on the tip of his tongue while driving the school bus for several years. In 1956 Vaughn took over the work as custodian in the LeRaysville Elementary School where his kindly smile and pleasant disposition aided both students and teachers alike over the rough spots which so often arise. In April of 1958 Vaughn joined us at the High School as Chief Custodian. Since then we have come to look upon him with admiration and respect. No words could more adequately or appropriately express our thoughts as to the type of man Vaughn was than the following quotations: With Malice toward none; with charity for all. Thou wert my guide, philosopher, and friend. Therefore we the yearbook staff, on behalf of the students, teachers, and personnel of the Northeast Bradford High School, wish to dedicate this yearbook to the memory of Vaughn C. Jones.
