NORTHEAST ALABAMASTATE JUNIOR COLLEGE 1965 Originally housed in the former home of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Dilbeck Northeast had somewhat humble beginnings. In the fall of 1965, while construction was being completed on the main campus, the administrative offices and the college's first classes were held in this house located at the corner of Highways 47 and 35. In one of his last accomplishments, former President, Dr. E.R. Knox, initiated the purchase of the house and the twelve surrounding acres making the college campus a total of 107 acres. In the fall of this year, the house and several outbuildings were removed and the campus boundary extended on the west to Highway 47. BUSINESS EDUCATION f , , BUILDING I ,-fn? X , 71 Completed in 1977, the Business ' 7f'V Q ' ' we ,ww , 'H I I N I swfi f Education Building provided needed space for the college's expanding word processing and data processing pro- grams. The modern, two-story air-con- ditioned building is the heart of the col- lege's business education program housing the foremost in word process- ing equipment in the state of Alabama. It is also the center for the increasingly popular computer science programs. CECIL B. WORD LEARNING RESOURCES CENTER Dedicated on January 19, 1982 in hon- or of the late Cecil B. Word of Scottsboro, the Word Learning Resources Center of- fers outstanding facilities and resources for Northeast's students and faculty. Oc- cupied in the spring of 1979, the two-story building, highlighted by triple outside towers houses the library's 40,000+ book collection, a learning laboratory for indi- vidual use, a career laboratory, an audio- visual classroom and a fully equipped close circuit television studio.

4 ..m......., HEALTH AND FINE ARTS BUILDING Perhaps the most varied facility on campus, the Health and Fine Arts Building was completed in 1970. Not only housing all classrooms and faculty offices for the arts and humanities and physical education, the building has a two-story 3,000 seat gymnasium equipped with a stage for large campus presentations and graduation. A 500 seat auditorium for campus assemblies and community use is located on the second floor.
