STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION Steve McFall, a business administration major, is president of the 1982-1983 Northeast State Student Government Association. He is a 1981 graduate of Plainview High School where he also served as presi- dent of the Student Council. This year, Steve was selected as a member of Who's Who Among Students of American Junior Colleges. The purpose of the Northeast State Student Government Association is primarily to serve as a mediator and interpretor between and of the ad- ministration and student body. The main secondary function is to provide enjoyable and worthwhile extracurricular student activities. I .V .L I . , I.. 07 vlll 65- U -' l 5 'E 'I ' -- f' The 1982-1983 school year has shown a marked progress toward the pinnacle of impor tance that any representative body should have Student and faculty consensus has it that the three S.G.A. sponsored dances were perhaps the best-decorated and most entertainingly per formed comparable to those of some large: schools. During the Winter Quarter, the S.G.A sponsored the first-ever and highly successfu Miss Northeast State Pageant. There is now a pool table in the student centei by-and-large due to S.G.A. efforts. Homecom ing, election of class favorites and assisting witl a T.V.A. forum are among the other school ser vices that the S.G.A. participated in.

It is felt that the S.G.A. accomplished many of its xurposes, yet the members share the idea that pur- moses are only a statement of goals, and goals are lever-ending. With this in mind, it is hoped that next vear's S.G,.A. will carry on and improve the actions ind ideas that have been set forth by this year's Stu- lent Government Association members.
